About

WELCOME TO MY FOOD EVENTS!

You may be wondering why I chose to call my blog “My Food Events”… Well I will hold you in suspense no more!  My blog name actually comes from my boyfriend’s mother. While on a road trip to Luther College (where my boyfriend went to college) my boyfriend and I spent two quality hours in the car with his mom and dad.  After having eaten a lunch before we left it wasn’t more than about 20 minutes into the car trip when his mom asks, “Does anyone want a food event?”  I couldn’t help myself but giggle at this expression.  My boyfriend had told me in the past that his mom calls snacks “food events”, but have never actually heard the words come out of her mouth.  Ever since that road trip I call my snacks “food events” (while I giggle to myself)!

Growing up I was always a very active kid.  I played many sports including soccer, karate, volleyball, basketball, softball and track.  Moving into  my college years I spent four amazing years playing basketball at a D-3 college.  After I completed my four years of eligibility I knew I had to find a way to keep myself in shape and healthy.  Thus, far I have done a decent job at this, but I continuously struggle to keep my healthy eating habits consistent.  I have what some people might call a little bit of a sweet tooth!  I allow myself to indulge every day (usually in moderation), so it’s my goal to always have a healthy balance.  Through my blog I hope to share a lot of incite to others as well as gain a lot of good nutritional advice.

I hope you enjoy My Food Events!  If you have any questions or comments feel free to e-mail me at myfoodevents@gmail.com.

ABOUT ME

My niece

My name is Mackenzie, I am 23 years old and have a wonderful boyfriend and family.  Outside of spending time with my boyfriend, friends and family I enjoy being active outside, reading, playing with my adorable niece and nephew (okay so that falls into the category of spending time with family, but they’re SUPER cute!), eating, and rooting for the Express, Packers and Saints.  I love to cook and bake, but find myself short of time to do anything that takes longer than 20 minutes most days.  My fitness goal for the year is to run a half marathon (I am a wanna be runner)!

My nephew

I completed my undergraduate degree in Sport Management a little over a year ago and on my way back to school to get my masters in Human Performance.  On top of being a full-time student this upcoming school year, I will be a Special Events Graduate Assistant in the recreation department.  I love working in university recreation! Although I love working in the university I hope to explore other options with internships over the course of the next two years at school (ie: personal trainer, PTA, etc.).
